Anti-Freezing Measures for Fire Water Cannon Systems in Winter

2026-01-29 Visits:22

In severe cold winters, fire water cannon systems must be properly anti-freezed. The core is to focus on key parts, select appropriate protective measures, and eliminate hidden dangers at the source.

I. Water Storage Facilities

Fire water pools and elevated fire water tanks are the core of water storage; freezing or water shortage will paralyze the entire system. Protection schemes: For civil projects, facilities can be buried below the local frost line, or fully wrapped with flame-retardant insulation boards and waterproof cloth, with heating devices installed inside (to maintain water temperature above 0℃). For outdoor steel structure water pools in industrial projects, factory steam waste heat tracing can be used, with pre-buried heat tracing pipes for circulating heating. Ensure joint sealing to prevent steam leakage. After construction, check sealing performance and insulation layer integrity, and reserve inspection ports.

II. Pipes and Valves

Pipes and valves are weak points for anti-freezing; temperature differences easily cause joint cracking and water leakage. Protection measures: 1. Install flame-retardant insulation cotton on outdoor pipes and valves, with additional thickness at valves and tight wrapping of joints with insulation tape. 2. Install electric heat tracing systems for long-distance pipes or key valves, which start automatically when the temperature is below 5℃. For factories with steam conditions, steam tracing can be used; control temperature to avoid damaging valve seals. During construction, design pipe slope and reserve drainage points (to drain water when idle in winter); select cold-resistant sealing rings for valves and check sealing performance.

III. Water Pump Systems

Standing water in idle pumps is prone to freezing and damaging equipment. Operation points: Immediately open the drain at the bottom of the pump body and pipeline drain valves to drain water after shutdown; use compressed air to purge pipelines without drain valves. Install insulation covers to wrap the pump body and motor during construction. Inform Party A's inspectors to regularly check drainage conditions before delivery.

Core Principles

Constructors shall implement precise protection based on local climate and equipment characteristics, fully enforce measures for all parts, complete construction records and handover documents, and clarify key winter inspection points for Party A to ensure the system operates normally when needed.
