Boqiao Airport undertook a redesign of its fire safety system, replacing 11 existing PL10-32 foam fire monitors whose self-priming function had failed.

Solution

We supplied and installed new self-priming foam monitors. Each unit features an integrated suction pipe to draw foam concentrate from a nearby tank. Utilizing the Laval nozzle effect and working with the existing pumps, the system now projects a water-foam mixture up to 48 meters.

Key Adaptations

To ensure seamless integration, we collaborated closely with the client to make two key modifications:

Replaced the original Chinese national standard (GB) flanges with ASME-standard flanges.

Extended the length of the self-priming pipes to optimize performance.

Outcome

The upgraded system successfully restored full self-priming capability and met the required 48-meter projection range. The client was satisfied with the solution and the collaborative customization process, which effectively enhanced the airport's fire protection infrastructure without major operational disruption.
